Hitoshi Sakakibara is currently Deputy Director of the Institute for Advanced Research and Professor of Biochemistry in the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University. He is also Group Director of RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science, Japan. He graduated from Nagoya University in 1988, and obtained Ph.D. in agriculture (1995). He was appointed as Research Associate (1992) and then Assistant Professor (1995) of the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagoya University. Then, he moved to RIKEN as Team Leader (2000) and was appointed as Group Director (2006). He joined Nagoya University again as Professor in 2015. His research field is Plant Science, especially focusing on molecular mechanisms underlying optimization of plant growth and development in response to environmental cues.
