Valtteri Arstila
Valtteri Arstila received his Ph.D from the University of Turku in 2005, where he continues to work as a researcher at the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Philosophy and at the Turku Brain and Mind Centre. Since dissertation, which was on the philosophy of color, his research interests has shifted to the role that time plays in perceptual experiences and neural states that underlie them. During 2006 - 2009 he was a member of an interdisciplinary Subjective Time group, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. From 2010 to 2014 he was Finland's representative in the management and scientific committees of “Time in Mental Activity” (TIMELY) COST action funded by the European Science Foundation and the coordinator of its “Conceptual analysis of time perception” workgroup. He is the co-editor of two time related books: Subjective Time: Philosophy, Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience of Temporality (2014; MIT press), and Philosophy and Psychology of Time (forthcoming; Springer). |
