Sylvia Duarte Dantas
Sylvia Duarte Dantas graduated in Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). She has a master’s degree in Applied Psychology and a doctorate in Social Psychology from Boston University (United States). She is currently a professor at the Department of Health, Clinics and Institutions at the Santos campus of São Paulo Federal University (UNIFESP), and coordinator of IEA’s Intercultural Dialogues research group. She has social and clinical psychology experience in teaching, research, guidance, intervention, supervision and intercultural counsel for institutions and organizations. She works primarily in the fields of intercultural psychology, psychoanalysis, guidance, brief intercultural psychotherapy, psychosocial intervention, gender, emigration/immigration, ethnic/cultural identity, prejudice, and cultural integration processes. She is the author of Changing gender roles: Brazilian immigrant families in the US (New York: LFB Scholarly Publishing Company LLC, 2002); author and co-organizer of Psicologia, e/imigração e cultura (São Paula: Casa do Psicólogo, 2004) and Diálogos interculturais: reflexes interdisciplinares e intervenções psicossociais (São Paulo: IEA, 2012); and co-author of Líder de mudança e grupo operativo (Petrópolis: Vozes, 1985). |
