Fernando Iazzetta
Fernando Iazzetta is professor of Music and Technology, and coordinator of the Music Acoustics and Computer Technology Laboratory (LAMI) of the Music Department at USP’s School of Communications and Arts. He graduated in Percussion from the Arts Institute of State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP) and earned a doctorate in Communication and Semiotics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). His compositions for various chamber groups and electronic media have been played in numerous theaters and music festivals in Brazil and abroad. In recent years, he has developed technologies and programs for real-time performance and has created soundtracks for multimedia shows and videos. As a researcher, he is dedicated particularly to the study and usage of new music technologies. In 1994 and 1995, he did an internship as associate researcher at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT) of the University of California, Berkeley (United States), where he studied interactive music systems. He was a visiting researcher in the Electronic Music Studio at Montreal’s McGill University (Canada) in 2003, and at IRCAM, the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (France) in 2006. In 2008, he was composer-in-residence at the Visby International Centre for Composers (Sweden). Iazzetta is the author of the books Música: processo e dinâmica (1993) and Música e mediação tecnológica (2009). He recently released the CD Música eletroacústica brasileira, a compilation of his electroacoustic works. |
NuSom's audiovisual performance, coordinated by Prof. Fernando Iazzetta:
In this performance the Ensemble NuSom will present artworks that are part of recent research projects developed by the group. After the performance they will make a short presentation about their work towards connecting academic research and artistic creation. NuSom is the Research Centre on Sonology.
